Daniel's surgery went well!!

Daniel Lords is doing amazing! He had the transplant surgery on August 27, 2008 and after only spending 10 days in the hospital, he is being released to the Ronald McDonald House near Lucille Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford Medical Center. The donor of his new kidney, Kelle Herzog, is also doing well and is recovering at home. Kelle is such a generous person and we can not thank her enough.

Daniel has to remain close to the hospital for approximately 100 days. He will need to have many blood tests during that time to make sure his body does not reject the new kidney. There are many more challenges coming up for the Lords family once Daniel gets home. Daniel's immune system will be very suppressed, so even the simplest of illnesses can be very detrimental to Daniel.

Daniel has a surgery date




Daniel's transplant surgery is August 27, 2008. Daniel's kidneys are failing quickly and we hope that he is able to stay home with his family during these next 2 weeks.

Lets all keep Daniel and his family and Kelle Herzog and her family in our prayers.

A day for celebration


2 matches have been found for Daniel Lords!! 5 people were initially tested as possible kidney donors; they were reduced to 2. Both of these generous people are matches! If all goes well, Daniels doctors are hoping to have his transplant done before September 2008.
The Lords family along with Lords' Little Helpers are extremely thankful to everyone that has helped along the journey to this wonderful day.

Spaghetti Dinner and Auction


May 21, 2008 is the date for our next fundraiser. We will be having a Spaghetti dinner and auction at the Fallon Convention Center from 5:00 to 7:00. The cost is $5.00 per person and $15.00 per family. There will be a raffle, silent auction, along with spaghetti, vegetables, rolls, and a beverage. Tickets will be available at the door, by contacting one of the board members, or can be purchased at Walgreens or the Medicine Shoppe.

In the wonderful article that was printed in the Thrusday, February 7, 2008 addition of the Lahontan Valley Newspaper, the link for Daniel Lords' blog was separated into two lines via a hyphen. When typing in the website, there is not a hyphen. It is actually as follows:

Bank of America/PayPal Donations

A bank account has been set up at Bank of America for anyone wishing to place a monetary donation. Donations are welcome at any Bank of America location. Simply tell the bank teller you are making a donation for Daniel E. Lords, making sure to mention his middle initial so the correct account is found. Also be sure to mention the account is in the Fallon, NV branch, if you are donating from a different location.

Donations can also be made via PayPal. Once you are logged onto www.paypal.com, click the "Send Money" tab. The email account that is currently linked to Daniel’s account is: amylords@gmail.com. Enter the amount of money you wish to contribute. Your donation will then be deposited into Daniel’s Bank of America account.

BUNCO Fundraiser

On March 12th from 7-9 p.m. at the Old Post Office (located at 90 N. Maine), we will be holding a BUNCO Fund Raiser. The cost of entry will be a $10 per person donation. To reserve one of the 48 seats available, call Kara Sommer at 423-5503 before Feburary 27th. If you have never played BUNCO, we would be happy to teach you! BUNCO is easy to learn and requires only that you roll the dice and count the dots. Come join us for a fun-filled evening!

Cookie Dough and Baking Mix Fundraiser

We have an upcoming fund raiser that will be starting February 21st. It is for frozen cookie dough: Chocolate Chip, White Chocolate Macadamia Nut, Pumpkin Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal Raisin and Macaroon. We will also be selling dry mixes of: Fudge Brownie, White Cake & Muffin Mix, Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookie, Sweet Roll, Pretzel Mix, and Chocolate Cake & Muffin Mix.

This fund raiser will be similar to the sale of Girl Scout Cookies. If you contact one of the Lords' Little Helpers listed below, she will get you an order form to take to work or send with your kids from door to door. You will have until March 13th to take orders and return the form to your Lords' Little Helpers contact. The products ordered will be delivered to Amy Lords' house around April 12th. She will call you when the order is ready for pick up. The money will be due to your Lords' Little Helpers contact by April 18th. Whoever sells the most will win a cash prize of $200!
