Daniel Lords is doing amazing! He had the transplant surgery on August 27, 2008 and after only spending 10 days in the hospital, he is being released to the Ronald McDonald House near Lucille Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford Medical Center. The donor of his new kidney, Kelle Herzog, is also doing well and is recovering at home. Daniel has to remain close to the hospital for approximately 100 days. He will need to have many blood tests during that time to make sure his body does not reject the new kidney. There are many more challenges coming up for the Lords family once Daniel gets home. Daniel's immune system will be very suppressed, so even the simplest of illnesses can be very detrimental to Daniel.
